The Mom Project was born in 2013 – with the goal to encourage Moms to get in the picture with their kids. It has grown to include Moms telling their story of Motherhood, with hopes that we can see that us we are more alike than we think. We all want the best for our kids. We all worry about their futures, and we are all pretty sure we are messing it up. No comparisons needed, we are all on this journey together.
1. What do I love most about being a mom?
I love all the joy it brings me. That little girl brings me so much happiness. To witness millions of tiny moments of her learning or doing something new is incredible! When I pick her up at the end of a long work day, nothing beats seeing her run across the room shouting “Mama!” before she jumps into my arms and wraps her arms around my neck. The first time she said, “I love you Mama!” just about made my heart explode.
2. What worries me the most?
Sometimes I feel like I’m worrying about everything. I worry most about how she will be treated as she gets older and how she will respond. I hope she feels supported and loved no matter what.
3. What I hope my kiddo remembers about me as a mom?
I hope she remembers me as happy, playful, a little weird and a lot of fun. I hope she remembers me as always having time for her. I also hope she remembers me encouraging her to take risks but not letting her get away with things she shouldn’t have been doing. But mostly I hope she remembers feeling all the love I have for her.
4. My advice for new moms:
Every phase is temporary (the good and the bad) so enjoy all of it.
