What do you love most about being a mom?
Wow, that’s hard to pin point what I love best, because there is so much that I love! I would have to say that I love seeing my kids experience joy and happiness! From the time they were newborns just watching them experience joy brings me joy! Seeing them smile when they see me after school, to seeing them light up with pride when they have accomplished something–every time they feel joy my heart swells!
What do you worry about the most raising kids today?
Social media is definitely what worries me the most for so many reasons. Social media is such an easy way for kids to bully each other. It can also cause so much peer pressure and insecurities with the non-stop perfect selfies. Social media can also bombard kids with negative scary news stories they don’t necessarily need to see. Social media stops kids from actually being social with their friends and family in person!
What do you hope that your children will remember about you and their childhood?
I hope that they will remember that I was a good mix of a fun mom and a strict mom. I hope that they will remember their childhood as a time of fun and adventure! I hope that they will remember that I had rules and chores because I wanted them to succeed and become responsible independent adults. I want them to cherish the memories we made and the traditions that we had. I hope that they can continue these same traditions with their own families.
What advice do you have for new moms?
Enjoy each and every moment with your kids–cherish all the little moments. Don’t be in a hurry for them to grow up–it happens way to fast and you’ll wish you could turn back time. Routines are important, it really helps kids feel secure and you will be happy later in life that you have set routines with your kids. Let your kids help out with chores, it gives them a sense of accomplishment and will help them become responsible young adults. Take lots of pictures and write down all those adorable things they say!
