It’s the little things. Indeed it is. The problem is, we never know when those little things will become big memories. There is no warning. The smallest things that you used to do become just that…”used to”. One day they don’t need you to give them a bath. One day they can read themselves. One day, they don’t need you to hold their hand. I say enjoy the little things. Enjoy every single one like it’s the last. One day it will be.
9 months, boy
What do you love most about being a Mom?
What I love most about being a mom, is just that, “being a mom”. I love it all. I really do, but if I had to choose one thing specifically it would be the unconditional love that I feel in my heart and soul. I feel this every time we look into each other’s eyes. My son has awakened a love and joy within me that I never knew existed.
What worries you most about raising kids today?
It seems like everything worries me now days. I would say the biggest fear is trying to figure out how to raise him to be independent and not fearful of his surroundings. We live in a society where it does not appear to be safe nor have the same values that I grew up with.
What do you want your child to remember about his childhood..and you as his Mother?
That I gave all of me. I would like my son to remember how hard I tried to make sure he felt safe and protected. I want him to remember that he had a loving home filled with many happy memories. I want him to reflect on the challenges he faced growing up, and that his relentless determination drove him to succeed. As life presents him with new challenges, I want him to be able to reflect on his childhood and remember that it was once truly happy.
What advice would you give to new Moms?
Go thru each day as it is your last. Enjoy every moment, including the rough ones. Go to bed every night knowing that you gave it your all. Let the chores wait not your child, because one day you will wake up and the chores will still be there and your child will be grown. Always tell them how much you love them and remind them of their accomplishments at the end of the day, that way they fall asleep with a positive attitude.
