The Mom Project is back for 2017! The Mom Project was born in 2013 – with the goal to encourage Moms to get in the picture with their kids. It has grown to include Moms telling their story of Motherhood, with hopes that we can see that us Moms are more alike than we think. We all want the best for our kids. We all worry about their futures, and we are all pretty sure we are messing it up. No comparisons needed, we are all on this journey together.
What is the BEST thing about being a Mom?
The simple fact that I AM a mom….I am so proud and blessed to have that title, even when it’s as I’m writing this my 2.5 yr old is screaming “MOMMMMMM!!!!” I love seeing my kids learn and explore and quite honestly I enjoy observing them make mistakes and learning how to embrace and overcome to challenges life brings us.
What worries you most about raising kids today?
I wish and hope and pray that my kids will never allow anyone or anything to dull their amazing sparkle they each have about themselves.
What do you hope your children will remember about their childhood and you as a mother?
I hope my kids remember me laughing a lot, being a strong positive role model and that I had fun with life. (Aaaand I’m crying.)
What advice do you have for new moms?
Enjoy every damn moment, whether it be through babies crying in the middle of the night, teething and biting your nipple a time or two, strong willed toddlerhood, preteen hormone madness, and every little bit of amazing in between. Laugh as much as possible through the tough times, otherwise you will never make it out alive & smiling. Nothing ever ever ever has to be perfect, let your kids make mistakes and fall down, play in the mud, go barefoot whenever possible, wear the most ridiculous clashing clothes, be there for them when they need it the most, laugh laugh laugh, take pictures and live in the moment. (All of these are reminders for myself too, it is so easy to get caught up in the rollercoaster and forget to breathe and let those little things GO!) Lastly, be kind to your mama heart, take care of yourself, relax, breathe and just be amazing at being you.
